WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- A 31-year-old Marion man has died as the result of a gunshot wound to the chest early Sunday morning at a rural Marion bar.

Cedric Marshall was transported to Herrin Hospital from the Red Zone bar, located at the intersection of Illinois 37 and Stotlar Road. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

On Monday, Williamson County State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti released a statement charging Demetrius D. Crittendon, 43, of Marion, with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with Marshall's death. Crittendon, who was initially charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting. He is currently awaiting his first appearance in Williamson County Circuit Court and the setting of bond.

The case remains under investigation by the sheriff's office. Marshall's autopsy is scheduled for today (Tuesday). The coroner's office is also assisting with the case.
