SALINE COUNTY -- Saline County's first snow blanketed the ground quickly Friday evening.

Roads were covered, and contributed to at least one wreck between Harrisburg and Muddy Friday evening.

However, pre-treatment of major roads by Illinois Department of Transportation workers and heavy snowplowing by county highway workers, city street and alley department workers and county township workers quickly cleared snow off roadways major and minor. Most roads were safe by Saturday morning, and rising temperatures followed by steady rain left only remnants of snow in a few spots by Monday morning.
