Body discovered in rural Franklin County

ZEIGLER - The Franklin County Sheriff's office is investigating the death of an unknown white female who was discovered in a rural area west of Zeigler.
According to a news release from Sheriff David Bartoni received just before 6 p.m. on Jan. 12, individuals operating an all-terrain vehicle located the body. Authorities were notified and the female was transported to the Herrin Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
At this time the identity is unknown. Detectives are investigating and more information will follow.
