  • Marion Carnegie Library Friends of The Library president Carolyn Loving, and her husband, Ken, counted the books in a shopper's bag over the weekend at the Friend of The Library at the Marion Carnegie Library as they helped check out the large number of book bargain hunters at the fourth and final book sale of the year for that non-profit that helps the library when a need crop up. Both admit to being avid readers themselves and Ken added that they've been fans of the library ever since moving the Marion a few years ago.

MARION -- When the Marion Carnegie Library Friends of The Library support group held its final book sale of the year over the weekend, there were plenty of eager shoppers lined up when the doors were opened for business, according to Library Director David Patton.

"Even though this is the fourth and final sale of the year, I don't think any of us were expecting such a large crowd waiting for us to let in this morning," he said. "We had over 40 shoppers pour into this room. Then, when you factor in staff and Friends volunteers, we ended up with over 50 of us and it was so full in here that you could hardly move within minutes of the sale starting."

Patton explained that the Friends group of Carnegie Library is very active.

"They help out a lot with monies raised at these sales by purchasing non-budgeted items that we happen to need during the year."
