The Chester Veterans Day Service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 12 at the American Legion Post 487, 500 Opdyke St.

The service is offered as a tribute to those Americans who served both past and present in our Armed Forces to preserve our freedom during times of war and peace. Chester Mayor Tom Page, the 631st Eng. Sup. Co. ANG, Karen Stallman DAR, Mary Bohnert Blue Star Mother Jamie Tylka Walmart Mkt. Mgr., and the Chester High School band under the direction of Mr. Steve Colonel will be participating in the service. A salute to the departed comrades will be performed by the combined Legion and V.F.W. firing squads.

This year's featured speaker will be Ann Flanagan, past President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Illinois.

"This year our service is dedicated to the women of the United States Armed Forces who have served and contributed so much to the defense of our nation," said Legion Commander Picou.

The ceremonies have been well attended in past years, and hopes for a good showing again this year. He reminded that everyone in the community is invited to participate in honoring our veterans.

All attendees are invited to have lunch and refreshments following the ceremony.
