PINCKNEYVILLE -- All three Republican incumbents up for election in Perry County earned victories Tuesday against their Democratic challengers.
Incumbent Perry County Treasurer Mary Jane Craft notched 58 percent of the vote (4,983 votes), easily outdistancing Beth Lipe's 3,493 (41 percent). Sheriff Steve Bareis (4,985) also collected 58 percent of the vote in defeating Jeremy Gothard's 41 percent (3,549).
And Commissioner Robert "Bobby" Kelly won by even a wider margin with 61 percent of the vote (5,218) to Ryan Uhe's 38 percent (3,270 votes).
Republican Governor Bruce Rauner may have lost the election statewide, but he did win Perry County with 4,301 votes (50 percent) to Democrat J.B. Pritzker's 3,063 votes (36 percent).
Locally, Libertarian candidate for Attorney General, Bubba Harsey of Du Quoin, pulled in over 1,000 votes or 12 percent behind leader Erica Harold, a Republican, who totaled 58 percent of the vote.
