HARRISBURG -- Southeastern Illinois College's Theater Department brought the musical version of Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" to life during the weekend, delighting theatergoers with the performance.

Directed by Allan Kimball, the musical comedy tells the story of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of monster-maker Victor Frankenstein, a world-class neurosurgeon called to Transylvania to settle his late grandfather's estate.

Though reluctant to pursue his grandfather's obsession with creating life, he is encouraged to create a monster, encouraged by his servant Igor, Frau Blucher and lab assistant/new love interest Inga.
