SALINE COUNTY -- A nationwide wireless emergency test has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will perform its emergency wireless test at 1:18 p.m. that day.

The date originally was Wednesday, Sept. 20, but was moved due to the response in the wake of Hurricane Florence.

There will actually be two tests: one that tests the Wireless Emergency Alert system and the other with the standard Emergency Alert System. The first test will come over wireless devices, such as cell phones and should be accompanied with the message of "THIS IS A TEST."

If you were turn on your television or radio you would receive the same message over those devices as well.

This is to test the Nationwide system to make sure the alert systems are functional. Some older cellphones may not receive the message.
