MARION -- Just days after helping the Knight's of Columbus give away over $8,000, Tony Sena, known as "Mr. Tootsie Roll" around Marion, stopped by City Hall where Mayor Anthony Rinella signed a proclamation declaring Sept. 14-16 as "Intellectual Disabilities (Tootsie Roll) Days" in Marion.

Rinella said he was happy to give recognition to what he called a "worthwhile event" that's been held in Marion since 1969.

"The monies are well-spent on organizations in dire need of funding," he said. "It's events like this that allow them (Knights of Columbus) to continue the work they do."

In addition to the Tootsie Roll drive this weekend, Sena said the KC members will also hold the 8th Annual Roger Hines Memorial Golf Scramble on Oct. 7 at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Energy.

Anyone who would like to contribute or help with the drive or scramble can call Sena at (618) 889-8932 or (618) 997-6130.
