HERRIN -- While hundreds of football fans from both Du Quoin and Herrin headed for home when the game was delayed due to a passing storm at the end of regulation with the game tied at 25 all, there were plenty of Indians fans who braved the elements and stuck around to see the final outcome.
And what an exciting outcome it was as the Tribe pulled out a 31-25 overtime win on the road against the state-ranked Herrin Tigers.
Scoring the winning touchdown was senior quarterback Josh Heape on a 5-yard run after more than a one-hour delay. Head coach A.J. Hill was both excited to get the win and proud of his team for winning a key nonconference battle.
