A West Frankfort man who police believe was walking southbound on Route 37, was hit and killed early Saturday morning near Commerce Lane.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, the victim is Jack J. Brown Jr., 47. Investigators believe Brown was hit sometime after 1:55 a.m. and before 7:40 a.m., when his body was discovered by a passing utility worker.
According to a news release from Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones, investigators believe that evidence at the scene indicates that the suspect vehicle may be a black Dodge Ram pickup truck, 2009 to 2015 model year. Damage to the vehicle should be to the passenger side front, especially to the headlight assembly.
