A Williamson County judge has revoked a Royalton man's probation and sentenced him to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

In August 2015 James R. Burnett, 28, pleaded guilty to stealing about $3,000 in cash from a Cambria residence in April 2015. He was given probation, but authorities said he subsequently violated it by failing to appear and pay fines.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and on July 30, 2018, a Williamson County judge revoked Burnett's probation and sentenced him to five years.

In addition, Burnett will be under mandatory supervised release for one year following his release.

The investigation was handled by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. Assistant State's Attorney Sean DeMello led the prosecution of this case.
