KFVS honors COSLHS valedictorian

Miriam Hall of Jacob was recently honored as one of the Heartland's Best by television station KFVS Channel 12 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

KFVS honored dozens of the Heartland's Best at a banquet ceremony and recording of area high school valedictorians. Hall represented Christ Our Savior High School in Evansville.

The 33rd annual Heartland's Best ceremony was held in the University Center Ballroom on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. Corporate sponsors for this year's Heartland's Best are Southeast Missouri State University, Larry Hillis Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Subway.

All Heartland valedictorians and their parents were invited to the ceremony. Students who attended recorded greetings that will be featured in special announcements scheduled to begin in mid-June and air throughout the summer on KFVS12 and The Heartland's CW (WQWQ-TV).

Valedictorians from three states were treated to lunch with featured speakers Justin Fischer and Kelsey Anderson, reporter/anchors for Heartland News on KFVS 12, along with Dr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast Missouri State University. Grant Dade, chief meteorologist, and Marc Thomas, reporter anchor for Heartland News, introduced each valedictorian with a summary of their honors and achievements. Chris Conroy, KFVS12's Vice President and General Manager, served as master of ceremonies.

"All of us at KFVS12 are thrilled that the Heartland's Best tradition continues," said Conroy. "We're proud to honor the hard work and academic achievements of these fine students."

Greeting the valedictorians were Dr. Vargas, Conroy, Randy Ray. Senior Account Executive from KFVS 12, along with other representatives from the corporate sponsors.

"All of us at KFVS 12 are thrilled that the Heartland's Best tradition continues," said Conroy. "We're proud to honor the hard work and academic achievements of these fine students."
