A West Frankfort man was among those injured last week in a four-car accident.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies responded just after 9 a.m. May 22 to multiple reports of a traffic crash at Rt. 13/127 and Elkville Road in Vergennnes.
The preliminary investigation concluded that a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Jarred Barton, 26, of West Frankfort was southbound on Illinois 13/127 and turning east onto Elkville Road. Barton pulled into the path of a northbound 2003 BMW SUV driven by Sagib Khan, 53, of Carbondale. Barton's vehicle then was struck by two other vehicles: a 2017 Hyundai Tuscan driven by Rosemarie Painter, 66, of Springfield and a 2017 Dodge Rain driven by John Houghland, 60, of Raymond.
Barton was transported from the scene to a St. Louis-area hospital. Khan was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released. No one else was injured in the crash.
