WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- Pepsi Mid-America Chairman and CEO Harry L. Crisp II was involved in a two-car accident Saturday afternoon on Interstate 57 northbound at Mile Post 50 in Williamson County.
Crisp was said to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The driver of the second vehicle -- Robert L. Abernathy -- was not injured.
According to a state police report, a 2015 Kenworth truck driven by Abernathy, 70, of Paris, Illinois, and a 2008 Cadillac driven by Crisp, 82, were both northbound on the interstate. Abernathy was in the left lane passing Crisp when Abernathy's truck came back over into the right lane too soon. Crisp swerved to avoid the trailer. In doing so, Crisp overcorrected and struck the right side of the trailer pulled by the truck near the rear tandems.
Crisp exited the roadway, rolled over and came to rest upright after striking a tree. Anthony's truck was driven from the scene, however Crisp's vehicle had to be towed due to severe damage.
A passenger in Anthony's truck, Dale R. Thomas, 63, of Paris, was uninjured. The accident was reported at approximately 4 p.m.
All lanes remained open during the crash investigation and scene clean up.
Abernathy was cited for improper lane usage.
