Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School hosted its 2017 Wall of Fame ceremony, where the Alumni Committee presented the 18th Distinguished Alumni Award to Dr. Jeffrey Kerr.
Kerr, son of Joe and Cathy Kerr, was valedictorian of Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Class of 1992. He earned a bachelor's degree in physiology from SIU and graduated from the SIU School of Medicine.
Since 2009, he has specialized in endocrinology at Eagle Physicians and Associates in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He is married to Jasmine, a teacher, and has a 13-year-old daughter, Carmen, and 10-year-old son, Anthony.
After being presented with the award, Kerr left the students with some words of wisdom: Never forget where you came from. Grow up as someone who is always ready to learn. Thank God, thank your parents, and thank those who have encouraged you along the way.
Kerr then presented all of the Wall of Fame and Potential Wall of Fame members with their certificates.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors who earn at least a 4.0 average throughout their high school career are each presented with a certificate of accomplishment, and 8x10 photographs of the students are added to the Wall of Fame display outside of the office.
Freshmen who graduate from the grade school with a 90 percent average or higher are considered a Potential Wall of Fame member. These students are each presented with a certificate, and a group photograph is added to the Wall of Fame as well.
The 2017 Wall of Fame members are seniors Madison Absher, Kelly Barker, Keith Collins, Taylor Davis, Sienna Figg, Lauren Hancock, William Lewis, Dylan Mitchell, Makayla Murphy, Shanna Rone, Destanie Stout and Tyler Woolsey.
Juniors are Katie Barger, Jordan Burnham, Jillian Crisp, Kelsey Crum, Jeremy Cucinotta, Angelica Gonzalez, Hayleigh Hadley, Nathan Kennedy, Kaci McFarland, Alex Morris, Cameron Owens, Alex Peebels, Abbie Riden, Kale Rister, Michael Scott, Faith Taylor, Taylin VanDyke and Trenton Winchester.
Sophomores are Colton Betz, Kyle Bristow, Treyton Collins, CharAnn Elliott, Mason Gilliam, Eli Grathler, Brandon Hambleton, Desirae Jones, Rostin Lewis, Briley Martin, Acen Murphy, Jordan Robertson, Nia Sternberg, Abigail Whiting and Abbey Zertuche.
Potential Wall of Fame members from the freshman class: Gracey AUT, Heidi Bush, Jeremy Choat, Sammy Morris, Gabbie Roberts, Devanie Stout and Faith Vinson.
