SIU police blotter, Nov. 7-19

The following information was obtained from Southern Illinois University. Note that arrests and charges are allegations only, not findings of guilt.

Nov. 7
SIU student Bryonka Johnson, 21, of Lynwood, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia at 7:03 p.m., at the Wall and Grand Apartments. She was issued a Carbondale city notice to appear for the drug charge and released. A suspect for a report of a theft of cash has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

At 4:35 p.m., a theft of a wallet was reported at the Recreational Center. There are no suspects.

Nov. 8
SIU students Jonathan Gemmel, 18, of Arlington Heights and Cameron Mustafa, 18, of Champaign, were arrested on charges of possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia at Mae Smith Hall. They were both issued Carbondale city notice to appear citations and released.

At 1:20 p.m., at Brown Hall, an 18-year-old SIU student reported that he has been received harassing telephone calls from an unidentified suspect.

Voshaun Crayton, 20, of Glendale Heights, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and failure to yield to pedestrian in a crosswalk at 8:59 a.m., at the south crosswalk at the Student Center. Crayton was taken to the Jackson County Jail. The victim, a 32-year-old SIU student, was not injured. Crayton is not an SIU student.

Nov. 9
SIU student Jennifer Moore, 19, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, at 10:58 p.m., at Bowyer Hall. Moore was issued Carbondale city notice to appear citations and released.

Non-SIU student Jory Brown, 22, of Carbondale, was arrested at 9:29 p.m., at Lincoln Drive and South Normal Avenue on an arrest warrant from Jackson County on an original charge of resisting arrest. Brown was unable to post the required bond and was transported to the Jackson County Jail

At 5:13 p.m., at the Parkinson Hall restroom, criminal defacement of property was reported. There are no suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

Nov. 10
SIU student Michael Staerzl, 18 of Park Ridge, was arrested on charges of underage consumption of alcohol, at 11:44 p.m., in Grinnell Hall. He was issued a Carbondale city pay-by-mail citation and released.

At 3:17 p.m., at the Evaluation and Development Center parking lot, criminal damage to two vehicles was reported. There are no suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

At 2:56 p.m., a theft of a bicycle on Nov. 2 was reported at the Wall and Grand Apartment Building 1 bicycle rack. There are no suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

SIU student Marlon Vasquez, 20, of Streamwood was arrested on charges of underage consumption of alcohol at 1:19 a.m., in Neely Hall. He was issued a Carbondale city pay-by-mail citation and released.

Nov. 13
At 3:05 p.m., a student reported one incident of intimidation due to the student's national origin to a Campus Security Authority. The incident will be reviewed by the Office of Equity and Compliance.

Nov. 14
SIU student Paign Gower, 18, of Robinson was issued a Carbondale city notice to appear citation on charges of retail theft for a coloring book at 3:40 p.m., at the Student Center.

At 3:53 p.m., incidents of stalking were reported to a Campus Security Authority. These incidents occurred at the Neckers Building. The incident is being reviewed by the Office of Equity and Compliance.

Nov. 15
Four students were referred to Student Rights and Responsibilities for drug law violations.

Nov. 16
A custom knife was reported stolen on Nov. 16 at 2:14 p.m. It was reported the theft took place at 3 p.m., on Sept. 30.

Nov. 17
SIU student Jesse Resendez IV, 18, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of underage consumption of alcohol at Mae Smith Hall at 11:14 p.m. Resendez was issues a Carbondale city pay-by-mail citation and released.

Three students were referred to Student Rights and Responsibilities for liquor law violations at 8:15 p.m., at Bowyer Hall.

Nov. 18
SIU student Daejea Weathershpoon, 18, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of underage consumption of alcohol at Mae Smith Hall at 2:44 a.m. He was issued a Carbondale city pay-by-mail citation and released.

Nov. 19
SIU student Robert Ritz, 19,of Carbondale was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and underage consumption of alcohol at Mae Smith Hall at 2:06 a.m.
