The City of Benton is offering a computer and electronics recycling event to its residents later this week.
City officials announced at a recent city council meeting the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday in the student parking lot at Benton Consolidated High School.
Midwest Computer Recycling Inc. is collecting the computers and electronics equipment, which will include computers, laptops, hard drives, printers, scanners, VCRs and DVD players, facsimile machines, stereos, radios, typewriters, keyboards, mice, circuit boards, cables, cell phones, telephones, cameras, camcorders, cordless rechargeable hand tools, video games and small kitchen appliances.
The city also will collect televisions at a cost of $20 each, regardless of type or size.
"I think this will be a good event for our citizens to dispose of all electronic equipment," Commissioner Dennis Miller said during a recent city council meeting.
Commissioners approved conducting the two-day event.
