Police have announced more arrests in a multi-county case involving stolen weapons.
Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones announced last week that deputies arrested Dustin T. Russell, 23, of West Frankfort and Dylan M. Russell, 22, of West Frankfort after responding around 6:52 p.m. June 24 to a complaint involving the theft of two firearms in Orient. Both were taken to the Franklin County Jail.
On June 26, deputies responded separately to a firearms theft from a private residence in Pershing.
Authorities say both incidents are related to the June 27 search of a Herrin residence by the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force and the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. During the execution of that warrant, agents reportedly seized a small quantity of methamphetamine and five firearms alleged to have been taken during a burglary at a business in Franklin County and from a residential burglary in Franklin County. One juvenile also has been charged, and authorities expect more arrests.
Police say the May 16 burglary of S.I. Shooter Supply in rural West Frankfort is connected with the recent investigation and arrests, and at least two stolen guns from that burglary have been recovered.
