Musicians in the Rend Lake College district are being encouraged to come toot their own horns and sing their hearts out as part of two music ensemble elective classes for the fall 2017 semester.
The RLC Concert and Jazz Band (MUSI 1161) and the RLC Concert Choir (MUSI 1159) are both seeing musicians who are interested in earning one tuition-free credit hour or  just wish to play some music.
The choir, under the direction of RLC music associate professor Sara Alstat, performs in concerts and at college functions throughout the semester. The choir rehearses from noon to 12:50 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Learning Resource Center.
The band offers musicians more venues to perform and includes at least one concert per  semester. The band rehearses from 11 to 11:50 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the LRC.
Both courses are available to any student or community member. RLC has a number of instruments for musicians to use.
Participants must be 16 years of age or older, and one credit hour can be earned for each ensemble. For more information, contact Alstat at alstats@rlc.edu or 618-201-2044.
