Benton native Murphy C. Hart of Hart Cantrell was reappointed to the board of directors of Attorney's Title Guaranty Fund. Inc.

Hart has practiced law with Hart Cantrell since 1983 with a concentration on real estate, creditor collections and title insurance. His father, Richard Hart, was one of ATG's founding board members, and the law firm has been one of the top-issuing ATG member agents for several years. Murphy Hart is the fourth generation to serve in the law firm.

"We are pleased that Murphy has agreed to serve another term on our board and to continue his family's legacy with ATG," says Peter Birnbaum, ATG president and CEO. "His experience and insight are highly valuable in guiding our member agents."

On ATG's board, Hart serves on the claims and member services committees, and is also a director of The Judicial Sales Company, an ATG subsidiary. He is a member of the Illinois and Franklin County Bar Associations, and the Board of Directors of the Illinois State Bar Mutual Insurance Co. He is admitted to practice law in all Illinois courts.

He is a member of the judicial polling committee of the Illinois Bar Association, is the longtime chair of the Franklin County Sheriff's Merit Board, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the State Bank of Whittington.

Hart holds a B.A. from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and a J.D. from SIU School of Law. He and his wife, Jody, live at Lake Benton and have two adult sons.
