On May 6, the District 300 Educational Foundation will host the 11th annual foundation dinner at Du Quoin High School.
More than 60 scholarships will be awarded to graduating Du Quoin High School seniors at this event. Four students also will be honored through the foundation recognition program.
Tickets cost $15 per individual or $30 per couple and will be available at the door. Awards and scholarships will be presented starting at 5:30 p.m. in the DHS Hibbs Auditorium, followed by dinner in the DHS Commons.
The foundation has awarded about 500 scholarships totaling more than $500,000 and funded a number of instructional projects since its inception nearly 11 years ago.
The foundation's success is due in no small part to community organizations, groups and individuals who have contributed; to the Illinois Dollars for Scholars Program, John A. Logan College and Murray State University that have provided matching funds; and Pepsi MidAmerica, which underwrites a large part of the cost of this event.
