Route 34 in Benton to close for road repair next Tuesday

Illinois 34 just east of the Benton Public Square will be closed for much of next Tuesday due to repair work.
Jeffrey Keirn, an engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation, said Monday that the section of road will close so crews from the Union Pacific Railroad Company can perform repairs.
The closure will begin and 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 18 and conclude at 7 p.m. that evening.
There will be no traffic permitted through the crossing during the repairs. Motorists should follow the marked detour or seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
