It's been nearly a decade since the current street pole banners first went up in Benton and West City.
"Only a few of those actually remain from the program sponsored by Downtown Benton Inc.," said Karen Mullins, executive director of the Benton/West City Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber is working on securing new light pole banners to be placed around the Benton Public Square, along the main streets of Benton and leading into West City.
"The banners are maroon and gray with accents of black and white to profile our school and civic colors," Mullins said. In addition, Mullins said the new banners are designed to complement the pole banners West City installed last year.
Pole sponsors will have three designs to choose from for the large main street banners. Banners around the Benton Public Square will have the same style and showcase the new Benton city logo. Sponsors will have two lines of text that can be used to profile their names or contact information, or spotlight an organizational milestone.
"We are very happy to be able to promote our community and use our local businesses to make this a reality," board president Jessica Whitlow said.
Mullins added, "With Benton and West City's support, we plan on having the banners installed in time for the Rend Lake Water Festival Parade on May 13."
Order forms and banner examples are available at the Chamber office at 211 N. Main St. in Benton or online at BentonWestCityChamber.com. The deadline for ordering banners is March 31.
