A man police say attempted to murder an elderly woman during a weekend home invasion in Du Quoin is in custody.
The Du Quoin Police confirmed that Trayvon A. Johnson, 31, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Carbondale. He remained in custody in Carbondale Sunday afternoon.
Johnson had been wanted since the start of the weekend on charges of attempted murder, home invasion, armed robbery, aggravated battery and residential burglary.
According to police, Johnson broke into the home of an elderly Du Quoin resident around 7 a.m. Saturday.
Formal charges in the case are pending.
