Three shot early Saturday in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG -- Harrisburg police say a shooting early Saturday morning left three people injured.

The shooting is said to have occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 200 and 300 blocks of East Dayton Street, according to a news release.

The identities of the victims have not been released, nor are their conditions known. They were taken to local hospitals.

Harrisburg Mayor John McPeek said in a news release that the city is aggressively pursuing an investigation. "I assure you justice will be served," McPeek said.

Harrisburg Police Department, Illinois State Police and the Saline County Sheriff's Department continue to investigate.

Harrisburg Police Chief David Morris praised those law enforcement agencies, along with the Eldorado Police Department, for their quick response to the shooting.
