A Du Quoin man has been charged with the theft of almost $4,000 from the local McDonald's.
Du Quoin Police say they arrested Joshua R. Parker, 27, Friday following an investigation into a burglary that reportedly occurred earlier this month at the local fast-food restaurant.
Police reportedly were first contacted around 5:30 a.m. Feb. 1 regarding the alleged burglary, during which someone took money bags containing about $3,808, as well as the business video system, during the overnight hours. Detective Sgt. Steve Ingram and Detective Phil Schimanski arrived a short time later and took over the investigation.
On Friday, the detectives spoke with Parker, an employee of the restaurant, and he subsequently was placed under arrest for the burglary. Investigators also recovered the business video system and took possession of a 2001 Chevrolet Coupe and associated stereo equipment Parker is believed to have purchased with the stolen money.
