MULKEYTOWN – Alan F. Flint, 64, passed away at 11:41 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, in Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville.

Alan sold insurance for Modern Income Life. He also had been a carpenter for Dale Williams Construction and worked at Freeman Coal Company Orient 3 and 6.

He owned Rend Lake Hydraulic Service for 39 years and was a mobility power chair repairman.

Alan was a member of UMWA, NRA and Equipment Service Association. He was a non-denominational Christian.

He was born July 2, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Herbert Gene and Marian (Inabnit) Flint. He married Alpha C. McCaughan on July 2, 1970, in West Frankfort, and she survives in Mulkeytown.

Other survivors include four daughters, Annette Raetz and husband Tom of Mulberry Grove, Channa Baxter and husband Howard of Du Quoin, Amanda Sarver and husband David of Payson and Alana Pierson and husband Jeff of Roodhouse; mother, Marian Flint of Du Quoin; two brothers, David Flint of Mulkeytown and Don Flint and wife Angie of Mulkeytown; two sisters, Beth Mandrell and husband Vernon of Mulkeytown and Charlotte Smith and husband Lance of Carlyle; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in Martin Buchanan Community Center, 400 E. Main St., in Valier with Scott Hanks, Dennis Haus and Luther Raine officiating. Burial will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, and 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the community center.

A luncheon will follow the service at the community center.
