A former Franklin County Circuit Clerk employee who admitted stealing money from the office avoided jail time Monday when she was sentenced to four years probation.

Kindra Eickelman also has to pay more than $37,000 to cover the cash she stole and an audit that followed, Clerk Nancy Hobbs said.

She stole about $23,000 over nearly two years.

Eickelman was arrested in 2014 and left the circuit clerk’s office after she admitted to taking cash. She pleaded guilty earlier this year.

Eickelman’s attorney, Troy J. Parrish, said the sentence, which is the maximum allowable term of probation for the crime, was a fair one.

“From the beginning, our position was she wanted to stand up and take responsibility,” Parrish said.

The case has had an effect in Hobbs’ office.

“We made some changes in the way we do our bookkeeping,” she said.
