A single vehicle wreck on Interstate 57 led to the death of a Tennessee woman.

Francine Canerdy, 57, from Adamsville, Tenn., was killed Monday, when she apparently lost control of her 2001 Toyota Sequoia while heading south on the interstate between Benton and West Frankfort.

The Illinois State Police report that Canerdy apparently lost control of her sports utility vehicle around noon on Monday and it slid into the media around mile maker 67 and then partially into the northbound lanes.

The SUV came back into the median and stopped with part of it on the inside shoulder of the southbound lane, police said.
The Toyota received excessive damage and Canerdy had been partially ejected from the SUV.

An ambulance took her to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The SUV was towed and the south bound lanes of I-57 were closed for a brief period, with all lanes reopened by 1:10 p.m. when all lanes were reopened.

The ISP did not report whether the the investigation into the crash was closed or continuing. No further information will be released.
