Kendall Marvel will perform at the Italian Club in North City (Coello). His visit is part of the club’s continuing commitment to raise scholarship money to benefit local high school students.

Marvel was born and raised in southern Illinois and has been playing and singing since the age of five. However, his strongest suit just may be his ability to create some great country music through his song-writing ability. He moved to Nashville in 1998 and has been writing country hits ever since.

He is set to perform on Saturday.

Marvel has written songs for a host of country recording stars such as George Strait, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Joe Diffie, Travis Tritt and many others.

His appearance Saturday at the Italian Club will cap a day of great music for fans at the Italian Club outdoor area. Marvel's latest efforts are songs for Josh Thompson, Blake Shelton and Darius Rucker. He also has one coming out for Kenny Chesney on his next beach record.

According to club director, Michael Brower of Mulkeytown, the fundraiser is all to help the Club’s scholarship program. This spring, the Italian Club gave 20, $500 scholarships to kids from Christopher, Sesser-Valier, and Zeigler-Royalton high schools.

Marvel has devoted his life to making music and openly admits that he feels blessed to be able to write songs for a living. However, folks coming to the day of music at the club’s outdoor venue will not only get to hear this gifted musician play and sing his own creations. There is an entire line-up of great performers beginning at 3 p.m. with Not Guilty, followed by Shakey Jake, and gifted fifteen-year-old, Riley Kirk.

A $10 charge covers the event, with proceeds, again, going to the scholarships. Food and beverage will be available for purchase as the Italian Club now serves food daily. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the pleasant outdoor area and some great music.
