The Rend Lake Dam Bridge will close for eight hours for a biennial inspection.
The U.S. Corps of Engineers announced Thursday that traffic will be detoured away from the bridge from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Periodic inspections are conducted every two years on all bridges at Rend Lake, which the the Army Corps manages.
Motorists should watch for closure signs at Sugar Creek parking lot and the west entrance to the Rend Lake Dam.
In the event of bad weather, the inspection may be moved to May 11 or 12.
