Virginia Carroll

Virginia M. Carroll, 97, of Benton and formerly of Bluford, died at 8:48 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at Helia Healthcare in Benton.
She was born Oct. 15, 1918, in New Athens, a daughter of Charles R. and Ida M. (Bald) Hanft. She married William H. Carroll on June 1, 1941, in New Athens. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1992.
She is survived by two sons, William Ross Carroll and wife June of Chatham and Gary Milton Carroll and wife Sandra of Beaumont, Calif.; twin daughters, Donna Marie Gregory and husband Larry of Lesterville, Mo., and Deanna Lee Pyszka and husband Deno of Benton; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, LeRoy Hanft.
Virginia was a chiropractic assistant in Mt. Vernon and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Bluford, the United Methodist Women and Helping Hands.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Jeff Cupit, grandson of Virginia, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
