West City man held for alleged stabbing

BENTON — An altercation at a Logan residence this past weekend has resulted in the arrest of of West City man.
According to information from Sheriff Don Jones, deputies were notified about 9:30 p.m. by a third party that the altercation had occurred earlier in the evening between 53-year-old Brian K. Long of Benton and Mark E. McIntosh, 44, of West City.
The report alleged that Long had been stabbed by McIntosh during the altercation. During the initial phase of the investigation, Long was found to be suffering from an open wound to the back. Long was transported to a local hospital, where he reportedly was in stable condition on Monday.
McIntosh was arrested and is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Jones states additional charges are possible, pending a review of the case by the state's attorney's office.
McIntosh has no recent criminal history, according to an online court data system. However, he was convicted of aggravated driving under the influence in 2011 and was convicted of criminal trespass to a residence in 2012 and was sentenced to serve two months in the Department of Corrections to run concurrently with each charge. Another case in 2012 on a charge of aggravated domestic battery was dismissed, according to court records.
