Walter "Lee" Grayson, 93, of Benton, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at StoneBridge Senior Living Center in Benton.  

  

He was born on July 30, 1922, to Everett and Margaret (Schwartz) Grayson in Rolla, MO.  Lee worked as a car salesman. On December 30, 1972, he married Helen Summers and she preceded him in death on February 15, 2010. 

  

Lee was a WW II Army veteran.  He made the Invasion on Normandy Beach and fought in the major battles from France to Germany. He loved cars and the sale of cars. He enjoyed boating, being with his family and liked mowing the lawn.

  

Lee is survived by his two daughters, Robyn Ann (Danny) Richardson of Staunton, IL, Sandy Grayson of Eldorado, IL; a son, Wayne Grayson of Johnston City, IL; a step-son, Greg (Patty) Shelton of Benton, IL; three grandsons, David  Shelton of Akin, IL, Patrick  Shelton of Kirkwood, MO, J.T. Arendarszyk of Johnston City, IL; a granddaughter, Rachael Fridel of Glen Carbon, IL and six great-grandchildren, Gentry, Gunnar, Katelyn, Andrew, Sarah and Christopher.

  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Margaret Grayson, his wife, Helen Grayson, and a brother, Archie Grayson.

  

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2016, from 9:30 am - 11:30 am at Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.
     

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, 11:30 am at the Pate Funeral Home, Benton, IL, with Mark Minor officiating.  Burial will take place in the Brady Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion Post 280, VFW Post 2671 and the National Guard Honors Team. 

  

Memorials contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
