James Lorraine Sr.

James Henry Lorraine, Sr., age 79, of Benton, passed away at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, January 24, 2016 at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, with military rites being conducted by the U.S. Navy. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

James was born on March 27, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of James Gabriel Lorraine and Dorothy (McCarthy) Lorraine.

James was retired from General Motors, where he was an inspector with the truck line division. He was a member of the United Auto Workers.

James served his country from 1954 to 1956 in the National Guard in Missouri. He would then join and serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960.

He enjoyed playing in pool leagues, watching television, and spending time playing cards with his family, and playing the harmonica.

James was of the Catholic faith.

James is survived by three sons: Michael Henry Lorraine of Mountain Grove, MO, Vernon Keith Lorraine of Herman, MO, and James Henry Lorraine, Jr. of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister: Sharon Gerber and husband Gary of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Thomas Anthony Lorraine; and a sister: Dorothy Jane Carico.
