Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department will conduct a free walk-in testing day at its Benton and Marion locations available to those who wish to be tested for HIV.
The testing takes place on Thursday, Dec. 1, recognized as World AIDS Day.
The day is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
The Center for Disease Control estimates that more than 1 million people are living with HIV infection in the United States — and one in five of those people living with HIV is unaware of his or her infection.
Bi-County will be performing HIV tests at its Benton location, 403 E. Park, from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday and at its Marion location, 8160 Express Dr., from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Rea Clinic in Christopher will host free screening from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13.
The screening includes blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and hemoccult. No appointment is necessary.
