Friday, June 4
• The BCHS Class of 1954 will meet for their monthly luncheon, 11:30 am, Windows Restaurant, Rend Lake.
Saturday, June 5
• Benefit events to raise money for the family of Gayla Whobrey, who died May 23. Pancake breakfast, 8 to 10 a.m., West City Applebee's. Italian beef dinner provided by Henry and Julie Russel, 5 p.m., Brew City in Benton. Live auction, karaoke, raffles included. For more information, call 927-4174 or 927-3045.
Sunday, June 6
• Plasters Grove Church will have their annual picnic at West Frankfort Community Park. We will meet at the park at 10 a.m. for Sunday school. There will be no service at the church that day.
Monday, June 7, through Friday, June 11
• Sesser Church of Christ Vacation Bible School, 9 a.m. to noon (lunch provided). Ages toddler and up.
Saturday, June 12
• Juanita Neal will celebrate her 90th birthday. Family and friends are invited to an open house for Juanita at the North Benton Baptist Church FTC Building, 1 to 4 p.m. No gifts, please.

• 55th annual Rend Lake Days Sesser Homecoming 2010, Miners Memorial Park, Sesser. Wednesday: Food concessions stand (BBQ), 5 p.m.; carnival, 6 p.m.; Southern Pride, 7:30 p.m. Thursday: Food concessions stand (BBQ and corn), 5 p.m.; carnival, 6 p.m.; Songwriters in the Round, 7:30 p.m. Friday: Food concessions stand (BBQ and corn) and overload horse-pulling contest, 5 p.m.; carnival, 6 p.m.; David Ball, 8 p.m. Saturday: 5K Fun Run and Walk (starts/ends at the Custard Stand), 8 a.m.; 48th annual Car Show, 9:30 a.m.; food concessions stand (BBQ), 10 a.m.; car registration ends/judging begins, 1:30 p.m.; parade, 4 p.m.; carnival, 6 p.m.; Bobby Bare, 8 p.m.; crowning of queen, princess and prince, 10 p.m.; drawing for free trip for two to Hawaii, 11 p.m.
