ELDORADO -- With Spring finally underway, the Eldorado Garden Study Club started the season with its first meeting of the year.

The club kicked off the year March 21 with the theme "A Garden for All Seasons."

Mike Gwaltney of Jerry's Berries in Eldorado spoke to the group about a variety of gardening topics to help members get their spring gardening off to a good start.

President Marilyn Ellis shared with the group that the club recently has earned the Club Achievement Award and the Club Horticulture Award from the Garden Clubs of Illinois, with whom the Eldorado Club is affiliated.

Vice President Donna Hearn gave the group a preview of the programs, trips and activities planned for the year, which align with state and National Garden Clubs goals and objectives. Several items of business were addressed, and everyone then enjoyed delicious refreshments provided by hostesses Ellen Butler, Cindy Drone, Wanda Brown and Donna Barton. The club is also affiliated with the National Garden Clubs.
