Preceptor Alpha Eta donates to Du Quoin High School drama department

The sisters of Preceptor Alpha Eta met at the home of Donna Secrist on April 11. President Kathy
Smith called the meeting to order with members reciting the Opening Ritual and roll was taken with 13 members responding.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Secretary Mary Riggio. Linda Sherman gave the treasurer's report. Money was allotted for the Preceptor Alpha Eta Memorial Scholarship which will be presented at the Du Quoin High Community Unit District 300 Foundation dinner.

President Smith received an invitation for members to attend the Beta Sigma Phi Indiana State Convention. In other correspondence, a thank you card was read from Joyce Schimpf.

Donna Secrist, head of the Service Committee, mentioned a request from the Du Quoin High School Drama Department. She made a motion to make a donation to the Drama Department, which Linda Searby seconded, and the members voted in agreement.

Du Quoin High School is presenting the play, "Cash on Delivery" on April 20-22.

Spring Social Chairwoman, Barbara Brock, finalized the details of the Mother's Day luncheon. Members and guests will meet at 11:30 a.m. on May 12 at the St. Nicholas Brewery in Du Quoin. Founder's Day will be held by Preceptor Alpha Eta at Alongi's on April 26.

Judy Kauffman reported that the scrapbook is looking good.

Two informative programs were given. Mary Riggio read a humorous program titled "Mid Life Is". Barbara Brock gave an interesting and informative program on the history of jelly beans and gave each member a delicious sample.

The next meeting will be on May 9 at the home of Kathy Smith. There will be a salad supper prior to the meeting. Members with last names beginning with A-K will bring salads.

The installation for 2018-2019 officers will be conducted at the meeting. Members will meet at the Sav-A-Lot parking lot at 5:30 p.m. in order to carpool.

The Closing Ritual was recited to close the meeting. Sisters enjoyed the gift exchange with many interesting and unusual spring items exchanged.

Rose Alongi served homemade New York cheese cake to Barbara Brock, Sharon Childs, Nora Fann, Antoinette Haner, Judy Kauffman, April Kremer, Priscilla Craig, Mary Riggio, Donna Secrist, Linda Sherman, Kathy Smith and Johanna Tolbert.
