MARION -- Area residents are encouraged to help out a good cause by donating unused or discarded items to a charity garage sale planned for next month.

House 2 Home Realty and Black Diamond Harley-Davidson will be hosting a community garage sale to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and local food pantries, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 14,

"The great thing about this fundraiser is that it helps people in our local community in several ways," explains Celia Robertson, managing broker of House 2 Home Realty. "First, people can donate their items they don't need and know that all the proceeds are going to good causes. Second, shoppers give according to their ability. We don't tag anything, but we do ask shoppers to give as much as they can. Third, we let shoppers decide to which charity their money goes."

Robertson says this is the second Garage Sale for Charity that her company has been involved with. The first one last fall raised more than $3,000 for charitable causes.

Currently, donations are being accepted Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at H2H Realty offices in Marion and Carterville. Starting Monday, April 9, to Friday, April 13, donations can be dropped off directly at the Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Performance Center located at 2400 Black Diamond Rd, Marion. The sale will be held indoors at the Black Diamond Performance Center on Saturday, April 14.
