Those who love reading books and need to enlarge their personal home libraries had the chance to do so at vastly cut rates this past weekend at Carnegie Library in Marion.

According Sarah Wingate, Coordinator of Library Services, these book sales are held periodically by Friends of the Library with all proceeds used to help improve the library experience for all patrons.

She noted that they are very selective about the condition of all the books, records, yearbooks, videos and periodicals sold.

"We make sure that all the items offered are in good condition before we set them out to sell," Wingate said.

This particular sale was one of the largest in recent years, according to Wingate.

"Just last week, we had someone donate 25 boxes of books and we were busy getting them all sorted and ready to sell," she said.

Wingate said that the proceeds from this sale will be used by Friends of the Library to help fund new flooring for the Young Adults department.

Brandi Carter was among the shoppers attending the sale and the Marion artist said that she was hunting for books written in French, as well as art books.

"I love these book sales, and nearly every time I come, I find something to take home," she said.
