We find in the Holy Scriptures that in fact God wants us to have thankful hearts.

Having a thankful heart helps us grow in our faith. We focus on the blessings of God instead of negative thinking. We will run into many problems in this world, Jesus said there would be trials and tribulations in this world, but to not worry, He had overcome this world. 1st Thess. 5:16-18 tells us to be thankful for this is God's will for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

We see many persons in the Bible that God used in great ways that displayed thankfulness even in trying times. In 2 Samuel 22: 1-4 we see David thanking God for the victory over the Philistines and protecting him from Saul. In Phil 1:3-5 we see the Apostle Paul thanking God for the Christians in Philipi, and the opportunity to serve with them. We even see the example of Jesus thanking His father for food in Jn 6:10+11.

Jesus told a story about 10 lepers that He healed, and only one came back and thanked him for His blessing in Luke 17: 11-19. So we see throughout the Bible that being thankful pleases God.

We may be going through tough times, but there is always something we can be thankful for. The most important thing to be thankful for is Jesus himself and what He did on the cross. Christ paid the ransom for our sins, and now through faith in Him as our Lord and Savior we have eternal life.

God bless you all this Thanksgiving season. Psalm 100: 4+5 tells us to enter His gates with thanksgiving and praise, and that His love continues forever.
