Chance DeVore was looking for a place to have a Homecoming dinner with his friends.

"It was his idea," said Kevin Edwards, owner of Edwards Antiques on the Benton Public Square. "His mother and father were my neighbors."

Edwards, with help from Chance's mom, Simone, decorated his terrace overlooking the square. Then Katy Karcher and Troy Ray, owners of Seasonings Bistro next door, jumped on board.

The results of those efforts not only gave Chance and his friends a unique dining experience for homecoming, they've also become local Internet celebrities.

"I never thought it would go virally crazy," said Edwards, "but it did."

Edwards said he enjoyed watching people driving around the square, waving and talking to the kids, but he is just amazed at the online response.

The Facebook post has over 100 likes and comments, but there have been over 1,000 hits.

The menu included five orders of chicken alfredo and one cheeseburger, according to Karcher. "We're excited to be able to make memories for people in our community," she said. "We love going above and beyond to help out."

Simone DeVore was touched by the efforts. "It was very special to have two local businesses come together to make homecoming a unique event," she said.

Edwards said he has had a host of inquiries about others taking advantage of the idea. Karcher said she is on board.

"We're willing to make arrangements," she said.
