WILLIAMSON COUNTY - The Friends of Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge is sponsoring a Wildlife and Wild Places Photography Contest in which participants are asked to submit nature photos of Southern Illinois.
All photos must be taken south of Interstate 64. Awards will be presented for Landscape/Scenic; Wildlife; and Flowers/Plants/Trees/Fungi. Additionally, awards will be presented for photos taken solely at the refuge and for the best work done by children 17 and under.
Photos should be submitted at the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center by Sept. 29. The Visitor's Center is located on Illinois 148 south of Illinois 13 and is open daily from 8--4:30. Cash and gift certificates are given for Best of Show and 1st, 2nd, 3rd for each category.
Each photographer may submit up to five entries. There is a $5 charge for each entry for adults. Youth may submit up to five photos for $5.
