District VII Garden Clubs of Illinois will present a small standard flower show and host a marketplace sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at The Pavilion of the City of Marion.

The theme is "Summer Fun" and admission is free. The show consists of competitions for horticulture, design and special exhibits.

The horticulture division showcases fresh horticulture specimens of plants that grow well locally, and the design division spotlights creative efforts of amateur floral designers using real plant materials, both fresh and dried.

Other invitational exhibits include fairy houses and gardens, as well as floor designs on the show theme. And special attractions include educational exhibits, artistic crafts and photography.

Garden clubs from District VII will highlight their club activities and histories. An added feature to this year's show will be a marketplace at which shoppers can buy items related to gardening and designing, as well as flower arrangements.
