Benton ushers in the Christmas season

Tis the season! Lights Fair opens at Du Quoin fairgrounds
A Du Quoin holiday tradition is officially underway. The Holiday Lights Fair, now in its 18th year, opened Thursday evening at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds and will remain open to the public through Dec. 30.

Fees waived Saturday at Army Corps recreation areas, for vets, active duty families
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will waive day-use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at the more than 2,800 Corps-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
