HARRISBURG -- Art students from Southeastern Illinois College and Southern Illinois University Carbondale gathered Thursday evening at SIC's art gallery to open a show featuring SIUC art scholarship award winners.
The show was an opportunity for SIC students to view works by university students pursuing a bachelor of fine arts degree. The works in the gallery also highlight winners of the SIUC Celine A. Chu Scholarship Award. The exhibit is an exercise in abstraction according to SIUC art professor Najjar Abdul-Musawwir, who curated the show.
SIC art students under the direction of art director Sara DeNeal also got the experience of hanging a gallery show.
"ABSTRACTION: SIUC Celine A. Chu" will run through Jan. 8. The gallery is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and during special events at SIC's George T. Dennis Visual and Performing Arts Center.
