Festival of Lights opens Friday night in Benton

The city of Benton will host the 2017 Festival of Lights this weekend. The event will kick off Friday with the lighting of the courthouse and square at 6 p.m.

Following that, visitors can enjoy the Winter Wonderland with Santa's Meet and Greet at Capitol Park from 6 to 8 p.m. Gifts will be given to the first 50 children.

Several local businesses will remain open and host open house activities and refreshments. Carolers will travel between the shops, Capitol Park and Malkovich Park.

Kids can enjoy Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning at the Benton Fire Department from 8 to 10 a.m. This event is free and is limited to 500 guests. The menu includes sausage links, pancakes and juice.

In addition, the Benton Fire Department will be accepting new toys or monetary donations on site for their Toys for Tots program. All toys will go to local children.
