The annual Veterans Day Parade organized by the Du Quoin Chamber of Commerce will step off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 in downtown Du Quoin.

Local World War II veteran Robert Morrow of Du Quoin, who served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 in England, France and Germany, will lead the annual parade as grand marshal.

Following the parade, veterans will gather at Keyes Park for a celebration including patriotic music and speeches.

VFW Post 513 is organizing the ceremony at the park, and following its conclusion, the public is invited to a barbecue lunch at the post.

At 1 p.m., local Boy Scouts will conduct a flag retirement ceremony at post headquarters.

Scouts are in the process of collecting worn flags, and anyone wanting to properly dispose of a flag can drop it in a box at Casey's General Store.
